YOUR DOG'S HEALTH & WELFARE
At Valeska's Dog Groomer, the health and welfare of your beloved pets are our top priorities during their time under our care. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we kindly ask that owners adhere to the following policies:
It's essential for us to maintain a healthy environment for all dogs in our care. Therefore, we require all dogs to be up to date with vaccinations.
We want to provide the best possible care for your dog. If your dog has any medical conditions, please inform us before the grooming session. Grooming can sometimes expose hidden health issues, and we'll make sure to let you know of any hidden health issues and observations during collection. While we can offer advice, please note that we are not veterinarians and cannot diagnose or treat medical problems. Great care is always taken whilst your dog is being groomed; however, all dogs left with Valeska’s Dog Groomer are left entirely at the owner’s risk.
Regrettably, we currently cannot accommodate pregnant, postoperative and in-season dogs for grooming services.
To ensure a comfortable experience for your pet, please ensure they've relieved themselves before entering our premises. We recommend not feeding your dog within 30 minutes before their appointment.
We aim to provide a safe environment for everyone. If your pet has a history of aggression towards people, other pets, or grooming procedures, kindly let us know. Owners MUST inform us if their pet bites, has bitten or is aggressive towards people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. We reserve the right to refuse or halt services before or during the grooming process and charge an aggressive dog fee of £50, which will be added if a dog bites or draws blood when it becomes aggressive, in addition to the regular grooming charge. Should your dog display excessive fear or stress, or if they pose a risk to themselves or our team, we reserve the right to terminate the grooming session for their safety.
Valeska’s Dog Groomer will not groom any dogs registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, The Dangerous Dog (Amendment) Act 1997 or any further amendments to this act.
We value your privacy and treat your data by data protection principles. We might share data with third parties only with your consent.
The Pet Animals Act 1951 (as amended in 1983)
The Pet Animals Act of 1951 states that an animal must be kept in accommodation that is both suitable and clean, supplied with appropriate food and drink, and adequately protected from disease and fire. Our commitment extends to reporting any concerns about the well-being of animals to the RSPCA if necessary.
CANCELLATION/ LATENESS/ NO-SHOW
We understand that circumstances may change. We offer a courtesy reminder 24 hours before your appointment via SMS text. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please do so at least 2 hours in advance to avoid loss of deposit. The client has to be on time of the appointment, and do not arrive before scheduled time. For late arrivals of more than 10 minutes without notice, the appointment may be cancelled.
We have the right to cancel a groom if it may affect the pet’s welfare or if there is a risk of injury to the grooming team. If the customer has booked the wrong service for their pets, including but not limited to the wrong size, hair length or service requested, we will charge extra for the correct service provided.
If you are more than 10 minutes late to the agreed appointment time, you must inform the groomer or your appointment may be cancelled, and any dogs not collected on the agreed time will incur an additional charge of £10, which will cut our time with other clients.
Flea Policy
If fleas are found on a dog during the inspection, the client will be informed of the situation.
Clients will have the option to: a. Proceed with the grooming appointment if they agree to pay an additional fee for flea treatment. b. Postpone the grooming appointment until the flea issue is resolved by seeking treatment from a veterinarian or administering an appropriate flea treatment at home.
If the client chooses to proceed with the grooming appointment despite a flea infestation, an additional fee will be applied to cover the cost of flea treatment and disinfection measures.
After grooming a dog with fleas, our grooming area and tools will undergo thorough disinfection to prevent the spread of fleas to other pets.
We take strict measures to maintain a clean and flea-free environment for the safety and comfort of all pets in our care.
We strongly recommend that all clients maintain regular flea prevention measures for their pets to prevent infestations.
Failure to disclose a flea infestation or comply with our flea policy may result in refusal of service or termination of the grooming appointment.
By booking a grooming appointment with us, clients acknowledge and agree to comply with our flea policy. This flea policy helps to ensure a flea-free environment within the grooming facility and promotes the well-being of all pets in our care.
MATTED DOGS
Valeska Dog Groomer will always prioritize your dog's health and welfare.
The owner’s duty of care towards their pet is maintaining their dog’s coat between professional grooming appointments. A lack of regular grooming and maintenance can lead to clumps of matted fur that can be uncomfortable, and painful and cause skin irritation to your dog. We prioritize your dog's well-being. In cases of severe matting, shaving may be necessary to prevent discomfort. This is done by the Animal Welfare Act, aiming to reduce your pet's suffering. Shaving the coat is quicker and more humane. Many dogs are traumatized by excessive hours of de-matting, putting them off grooming for life.
Pomeranian Grooming Policy
Coat Care: Pomeranians have a double coat that requires regular brushing and maintenance to prevent matting and tangling.
Clients are encouraged to brush their Pomeranians between grooming appointments to keep the coat in good condition.
In case the dog requires a detangle service it will have a charge fee of £20-£40 depending on the coat conditions
Gentle detangling techniques will be used to minimize discomfort and prevent coat damage.
The groomer has experience in trimming and styling Pomeranian coats according to breed standards and shortcut preferences will be refused.
PICK UP AND DROP OFF BY CAR
We understand that some dogs can be sensitive while traveling in the car, but In case of vomiting or feces made in the vehicle, we have the right to charge a cleaning fee depending on the situation that was caused.

Grooming services will be performed according to the client's specifications and the groomer's professional judgment.
